South Florida State College Jazz Series Continues with Bill Allred and The New Orleans Nighthawks in February

South Florida State College's
Jazz Series Brings the World
of Classic Jazz to Avon Park

Thursday, February 9, 2017 ~ 7:00 p.m.
Going to a Bill Allred’s Classic Jazz Band set is much like attending a symposium on the history of jazz. You are apt to hear anything from Jelly Roll Morton to Count Basie and all the stops in between. The band uses the five-horn front line typical of such bands as those of Matty Matlock, Billy Maxted, and Red Nichols, as well as The World’s Greatest Jazz Band.

Saturday, February 18, 2017 ~ 7:00 p.m.
Clarinetist John Skillman fronts a solid rhythm section with the addition of two trombone players which makes the voicing and arrangement most unique among trad bands. A fun night of traditional swing and New Orleans Dixie Land!

The CamAmGer Band
Wednesday, March 8, 2017 ~ 7:00 p.m.
Representing a collection of musicians from Canada, American and Germany, this eight-piece band masterfully presents classic Dixieland jazz. The band has toured worldwide since its beginnings in 2004.
