Nat King Cole Generation Hope, Inc. Concert to Raise Funds for Music Education

#JazzBluesFlorida #jazz #blues #Florida #Concerts #Festivals #Clubs

Mary Wilson of The Supremes Headlines Nat King Cole Generation Hope, Inc. Concert to Raise Funds for Music Education

Mary Wilson of The Supremes will headline at GENERATIONS, a Nat King Cole Generation Hope Inc. concert to raise funds for music education, proudly presented by Patriot National Insurance Group.  The musical affair will take place on Thursday, March 8 at BB King’s Blues Club in West Palm Beach’s CityPlace.

The youngest twin daughters of music legend Nat King Cole, Timolin and Casey Cole of Boca Raton, launched Nat King Cole Generation Hope, Inc. in 2008 after learning of budget cuts in South Florida public schools directly affecting the arts.  It was created to honor the legacy, music and life of their father Nat King Cole.   Since that time, the organization has benefited nearly 5,000 children and has donated musical instruments and funds to 13 schools and community organizations in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties.

“Our father was a trail blazer in the music industry and true champion breaking down racial barriers. He will live forever through his style, grace and unforgettable music,” said Timolin Cole.  “By enriching students with the opportunity to enhance their musical talents and abilities, our father’s legacy lives on.”

The concert will also include performances by American Idol Top 24 Semi-Finalist Brett Loewenstern, 10-year-old violin sensation Brianna Kahane, and DJ Fono of Roundabout Records.

“In keeping with our father’s legacy, the concert will showcase generations of musical greatness,” said Casey Cole.  “The Supremes’ legacy and impact is tremendous and we are so honored that Mary Wilson will contribute to the Generations concert.  We are also delighted to feature young musical artists from our community, Brett and Brianna, who are shining examples of the importance of music education.”

The concert’s VIP experience begins at 7:30 p.m. with BB King’s signature blue carpet entrance and leads into a private meet and greet with the entertainers.  At 8:30 p.m. it’s show time and all guests will enjoy fantastic music as well as a chance to support the work of the Nat King Cole Generation Hope, Inc. by bidding on live auction items including a limited edition signed picture of the legendary artists who performed and recorded
"We Are The World", including Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, and Diana Ross.  The painting has each artist's

signature and portrait, along with the musical score of the song.  Also up for bid an 18K yellow, white and rose
gold triple bangle bracelet with 6.24 carats of pave diamonds valued over $21,000 generously donated by Jewels in Time; a ride on the Goodyear blimp; a private dinner in a winner’s home by acclaimed chef Steve Martorano; and the Ultimate Entertainment Package with VIP tickets to see Tony Bennett, Natalie Cole and Johnny Mathis.

GENERATIONS concert sponsors include Presenter and Multi-Platinum Sponsor Patriot National Insurance Group and Patron Sponsors are Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc., Excel Services, Hines Interests Limited Partnership and Wells Fargo.  Media sponsors are Seaview Radio and LivingFLA.

VIP Packages available ($2,500 and up) and include meet and greet with entertainers, premier seating, open bar and appetizers. $100 Donor Tickets are available for general admission and include 2 drink tickets and open seating.  For more information on becoming a sponsor, donor, or to purchase tickets please contact 561-213-8209 or info@natkingcolefoundation.org.

MODERN DANCE

Pilobolus Friday & Saturday, March 23 & 24, 2012 @ 8PM Individual Tickets: All seats $39
This collaborative dance company is acclaimed for its mix of humor, invention, and drama. From very humble beginnings over 35 years ago, Pilobolus has created a dance vocabulary all its own – and emerged into an innovative, unlikely and almost-uncategorizable dance company that combines athleticism, grace and humor with a profound sense of unity. Their smooth, organic choreography -- featuring unusual partnering and lifts -- often blurs the lines between individual performers, creating a sense of dance-troupe-as-organism.

"Your beliefs in the nature of strength, endurance and gravity will not hold. In fact, they will be defied. And every time you think, 'Whoa, how the hell did they do that?' they will take it further." -Dance Insider

Pilobolus is sponsored through a generous gift by Jeanne Kanders
“These performances by Ballet Memphis are funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs. Ballet Memphis is also funded in part by the National Dance Project of the New England Foundation for the Arts. NDP is supported by lead funding from the Doris Duke Charitible Foundation, with additional funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Community Connections Fund of the MetLife Foundation, and the Boeing Company Charitable Trust.”

After the Show – Wait, Don’t Leave…
Post-Performance Talk-Backs follow all Dance performances:
Post-Performance Talk-Backs follow all Dance presentations throughout the season. Live performances become even livelier with behind-the-scenes discussions with performers, choreographers, artistic directors and technicians that “make it all happen.”

March 2-3-4, 2012
Debby Boone - Reflections of Rosemary

Considered one of the greatest Big Band vocalists of a generation, Rosemary Clooney left her musical arrangements and legacy to her daughter-in-law, Debby Boone. The daughter of legendary 50’s icon Pat Boone, Debby has taken the music to new heights, mastering the timing, intonation and from-the-heart intimacy her mother-in-law perfected. Debby was recently featured on Oprah’s final season.

Debby Boone earned instant fame when her first single, “You Light Up My Life”, was an overnight hit. The tune claimed the #1 spot on the Billboard charts for 10 straight weeks and sold in excess of four million copies. “You Light Up My Life” ranks # 7 in Billboard Magazine’s The Hot 100’s All-Time Top-Charting Songs of the last five decades. Debby received the GRAMMY® Award for Best New Artist of the Year, and has since won two additional GRAMMY Awards, and seven GRAMMY nominations.
